Adult chess learners are often the most motivated students in any academy — and the most underserved. This program is built for them: complete beginners starting from zero, returning players who learned as children and want to play properly now, and casual players tired of losing to the same mistakes.
A program that respects adult life
Adults learn differently from children: faster at concepts, slower at pattern recognition, and short on time. Lessons are structured for maximum value per hour — clear explanations, targeted practice, and assignments that fit around work. There is no homework for homework's sake; everything assigned earns its place. Scheduling is flexible, including 1:1 slots outside standard batch times.
What adult students work on
- True beginners: the full foundations — piece play, checkmate, basic tactics, opening principles — taught efficiently, without child-oriented pacing.
- Returning players: a diagnostic of what's rusty and what's solid, then a repair plan: usually tactics first, then strategy and endgames.
- Club-level improvers: structured training in calculation, positional play, openings with understanding, and game review — the same method used for serious juniors, adapted for adults.
- Competitive adults: tournament preparation, time management, and practical skills for rated play.
Learning with peers or privately
Adults can join group batches with fellow adult learners, choose semi-private small groups, or take 1:1 coaching for a fully personal plan. Many adults prefer 1:1 for scheduling freedom; others enjoy the camaraderie of a group. Either way, the teaching is serious, the atmosphere is relaxed, and nobody is ever made to feel behind.
Common worries, answered honestly
"I'm too old to get good." Adults rarely become grandmasters, but becoming a genuinely strong club player as an adult is absolutely achievable — many do it. The ceiling is far higher than most beginners assume.
"I'll be the worst in the class." Adult batches group students by level, and 1:1 removes the comparison entirely. Everyone in the program started somewhere.
"I don't have time to practise." Two focused sessions a week plus short puzzle practice beats occasional marathon study. The program is designed for consistency, not volume.
Start with a free trial class
The best way to understand how the coaching works is to experience it. A free trial class lets the student meet the coach, join a real lesson, and see the teaching style first-hand — with no obligation. After the trial, the coach shares honest feedback on the student's level and which format would suit them best.
To book, message on WhatsApp: https://wa.me/918401533777 or call +91 84015 33777. Tell us the student's age, country and current level, and we will suggest a suitable batch. Class fees and schedules are shared on WhatsApp.
Frequently asked questions
I am a complete beginner in my 30s/40s. Is it too late?
Not at all — adults learn chess concepts quickly, and many of our most dedicated students started as adults. The program is paced for adult learners, not adapted from children's classes.
I played as a child but forgot everything. Where do I start?
With a diagnostic: the trial class shows the coach what survived (usually more than you think) and what needs rebuilding. Your plan starts from there, not from zero.
Can I fit classes around a full-time job?
Yes — 1:1 scheduling is flexible, and practice assignments are designed to fit around work. Talk to us on WhatsApp about timings that suit you.
Will I play against children in group classes?
No — adult students learn with fellow adults in dedicated batches, or privately 1:1. Group batches are organised by age and level.
